I painted over 150 wild flowers in watercolour when we lived in Sri Lanka in the 1970s.  When I started painting seriously, I retained a love for painting flowers but broadened my approach from botanical exactness to a wider appreciation of their beauty.  I now paint the flowers I like, whether wild, native or introduced.  My flowers in watercolour and pastel are sometimes quite abstracted, but I tend towards realism in most.
